Am I a Good Candidate for Invisalign?

If you are unhappy with your teeth due to crooked teeth, overbite or underbite, or other cosmetic dental issues, it may be time to consult a Raleigh Invisalign dentist. Invisalign treatment can be a great approach to straightening and improving your smile.

Invisalign candidates have overall good dental health but want to improve the appearance of their teeth in a non-invasive way that is comfortable and adaptable to their lifestyle. Unlike wire braces that have a tendency to cause pain and discomfort, Invisalign’s clear aligners can be removed while you eat and are nearly undetectable while you wear them throughout the day.

If you are looking for an easy everyday approach to straightening or improving the positioning of your teeth, without the discomfort or unsightly appearance of traditional metal braces, schedule an appointment with our Raleigh Invisalign dentist to see if this treatment is right for you.

Invisalign FAQs

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a modern treatment used to align and reposition teeth.  Using computer-generated molds, the teeth are set to a better positioning for straighter teeth. While located in Morrisville, Mint Leaf Dentistry provides Raleigh Invisalign treatment that includes the use of a system of clear alignment trays custom-made for each individual patient’s teeth that will, over time, correct their alignment and lead to a straighter smile.

The clear plastic alignment trays are fitted to the patient’s teeth and are designed to make small incremental adjustments over time. Every couple of weeks, a new set of aligners will be provided to patients, with even more slightly made adjustments to their teeth placement. Wearing the clear aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, and only removing them for eating and brushing, and flossing, your teeth will gently become repositioned. These slight movements happen as a result of the gradual, but continuous pressure of the aligners against the teeth.

Good candidates for Invisalign are patients who have a history of maintaining good oral hygiene and whose issues with their teeth are purely cosmetic. In addition to good oral health, it’s essential that patients have all of their adult teeth in order to be eligible for Invisalign in Raleigh. In some cases where there are one or two baby teeth left behind, it may be required that a patient undergoes orthodontic work prior to getting Invisalign.

When you visit our Raleigh Invisalign dentist, expect to discuss the details of how Invisalign works as well as how it will affect your teeth throughout the process of the treatment. Dr. Gandhi assesses if you are a good candidate for Invisalign. If you are a candidate and want to move forward with Invisalign, she will take impressions and images of your teeth. These mappings of your teeth and mouth will be used to create your custom-made alignment trays. During your consultation, you are encouraged to ask questions and discuss any concerns you have about the process of Invisalign treatment.

Every patient’s need and process with Invisalign is unique, so your dentist will decide exactly how long your treatment should take after assessing your circumstances. Usually, Invisalign treatment can last anywhere from 12 to 18 months.

The Consumer Guide for Dentistry reports that the national average cost for Invisalign is $3,000-$5,000. However, the cost will depend on a few factors, such as the length and complexity of your treatment. Contact us, for Invisalign in Raleigh to receive an approximate cost for your individual treatment and ask if we have any current Invisalign deals available to our patients.

Besides the appearance, there are several differences between Invisalign clear aligners and traditional metal braces. The main difference between the two methods is the technique used to shift teeth. Braces use metal brackets and high-tech wires inside the mouth during treatment to reposition teeth. Invisalign uses a series of clear custom aligning trays that are changed every week or two to move teeth. There are benefits and challenges with each method, but most people would agree that Invisalign is more comfortable for the mouth and teeth.

The Invisalign brand offers different leveled tiers to providers of Invisalign. In order to be awarded as an Invisalign Gold Plus Provider, a dentist must see a minimum of 25 Invisalign patients within a calendar year. Additionally, Gold Plus Providers undergo continued and advanced education related to Invisalign treatment that those orthodontic professionals who do not reach gold status have not undergone. Our Raleigh Invisalign dentist, Dr. Gandhi, has the experience and tools needed to help you achieve your perfect smile!
